Clouser Eventing

  Riding made easy...

Lessons

Lessons are offered for both English (beginner through advance) and Western riders (beginner and pleasure levels).  The focus is on safety.  There is no pressure for students to compete if they do not wish to do so.  For those who do compete (or want to) the goals for you are set by you the student.  We realize that jumping is not for everyone just as galloping cross country is not for everyone.  Our primary sport is eventing but we enjoy pure dressage, jumpers, and fox hunting too!   Lessons are taught in either a private or group setting.

Beginners need no experience!  Our lesson program is designed at this level to teach you from the ground up.  First few lessons include learning to catch, lead, groom, warming up, cooling down, and tacking.  As your confidence level increases less of the above are part of the lesson and more riding will occur.  After you are able to do all getting ready part on your own, you will be offered the chance to move into a group lesson.

For the more pleasure type of riders the lessons are designed to get you comfortable with the horses or ponies.  From there introduce you to the situations that may be encountered on a trail ride.  Giving you the confidence to trail ride for hours in a variety of locations.

To our competition driven students your lessons focus on the type of competition you wish to explore and accomplish.  Our students tend to school a level or more higher then what they actually compete in.  Our students have on a regular basis qualified for Regional and  National level Championships.  Jenn has also been a Regional level coach for the Maryland Region teams competing at USPC Nationals and USPC Championships.

Training

Training for horses is offered on a monthly, weekly, or daily program.  We do not commit that a horse will be doing x,y, and z by set number of days.  While most things can be taught and understood in a particular time frame.  We like to let the horses tell us when they are ready for the next step or level.  Some, just as people, understand things quickly while others take a few more tries.

Jenn does a lot of reschooling of Thoroughbred race horses.  By the end of the race horses education with Jenn they are trail riding, working in the ring, working in the open, jumping small courses, all while being alone or in groups large and small.

Coaching, clinics, and schoolings

Coaching and course walks are part of showing!  By the time a student gets to the point of showing they are learning to think on his/her own.  Coaching is to give the rider the confidence they are ready and able to complete the job at hand.  Fine tune little things from here and there.  Most of all being a coach means to be there as part of the cheering crowd when things go well and be there as the supporter and shoulder to lean on when things do not go as planned.

Showing can be the most joyful day on the back of a horse, it can also leave a rider humble and realizing that there is always another day to try again.  An advantage to students of Clouser Eventing....  Jenn is right there doing it to.  Some shows bring great honor, success, and feeling of accomplishment.  While some will lead Jenn back to the drawing board to review the training program for the horse and work towards the next outing.

Jenn tries to get horses and students out to many different locations both to show and school.  We can usually be found out on weekends with a group as small as three to a group of ten riders and a dozen plus friends and family.

Clinics are offered and Jenn will travel to provide a clinic for a group.  Discounts offered to pony clubs and 4H groups.
